Conservation Tree Program

The Swift Soil and Water Conservation District annually sells thousands of trees to the county landowners. We offer a wide variety of trees and shrubs. The bareroot trees are sold in bundles of 25 and the potted trees are sold individually. We also have a tree planting, tree fabric and a weed badger program.

There are a variety of programs available to obtain cost share for your tree planting. State cost share, WHIP, EQIP and CCRP are some of the programs that will help offset the cost of planting trees. Many of the county's farmstead shelterbelts, field windbreaks and wildlife habitat plots have been started as a result of these programs.

Here's how the program works:

* Trees are sold until gone, so order them as soon as possible to get your choice of trees.
* The order form is on the web site. You may also call and request an order form. Stop in or mail it to our office before March 1.
* Prices and varieties available are indicated on the order form. A 25% deposit must accompany your order.
* Plan to pick up your trees/shrubs in April at the Swift SWCD. You will receive a postcard about one week before delivery with the specific pick up information.
* You may also want to take advantage our tree fabric or weed badger programs and we also have tubex tree shelters to protect your trees from animal damage.
